My basset hound puppy played with a Funnel Web spider. My poor puppy passed away from the multiple poisonous bites. Died on the couch. :(

There are a few kinds, really poisonous Australian kind. Some call less venomous Grass Spider a funnel web spider or funnel weaver. They are not known to attack unless provoked but they will actually try to attack sometimes so keep that in mind. I once threw Something towards one bc I couldn't see if it was poisonous or not. A few days later, it still remembered, and I woke up with it slowly crawling towards me a few inches away on the bed. It immediately crawled off though whenever I woke up. Then it disappeared and a few days later ran towards me from across the rm, disappearing again. I think it was bothered by the phone waves. So they can be vengeful if you offend one, but I think otherwise they don't bother people. As for animals, that's a diff story and the cat could offend it by chasing after it. Seems I've heard they're more venomous to animals than humans

Talking Atrax genus, people do keep them. A cat is most likely to try to eat it.

    They don't play well together.
