    Depends on the type of tree and how far it is overgrown.

    There is no specific time for trimming, if your plants grower fast then you can do this according to it. Spring is best season for trimming.

    I trim everything in the Fall in Houston, Texas.

    When your spouse is sleeping. Use a two-cycle chain saw. All kidding aside, deciduous trees in the fall and evergreens whenever.

    An evergreen can more or less be trimmed any time of year .. but winter is best.

    A decidious tree should be trimmed in the autumn, after it has lost it's leaves.
