As a student of human nature, I can point out the following things that separate society into rich or poor:

    1) Education

    2) The Work Ethic

    3) Equal Opportunity under the law

    4) Common sense when handling money and finances

    5) Independence

    6) A personal need for self-sufficiency

    7) Ability to take on Responsibility

    8) Ability to come up with new ideas that people want and bring them to market.

These personal character traits will at least ensure that you are not poor.

Today's rich have had it all GIVEN TO THEM with Republican tax breaks that only make them richer.

Today's middle class is struggling to hold on and make ends meet.

Everyone should pay one flat rate of 15%, regardless of income.  The "rich" pay far too much.  The tax cuts did not have any negative impact whatsoever on the "poor."

    Circumstances alone.

Your economic status says nothing about your value, morality, or intelligence.

I'm more than a little sick of people pretending that your circumstances indicates your character flaws.

A smart and hard working person may be poor for a little while, but usually, they won't stay the way for the rest of their life.

They poor remain poor because of bad decisions, the rich remain rich because of good decisions. One bad decision does not make you stupid, repeating it over and over does.

More power too you. While you could flesh out what those good and bad decisions are, you are essentially right.

THE POOR MAKE DUMB DECISIONS WHILE THE RICH MAKE SMART DECISIONS

....and simply finding ways of getting more for less instead of producing more. Sorry, but that ain't capitalism by my book, that's cheating and that's dishonest business practice. (Which is rampant in our country as well as in others).

Money money money money. A Mark, a yen, a buck or a pound is all that makes the world go around. That clinking clanking clunking sound.

The simple fact is that most, but not ALL poor people, NOT counting those who are old, disabled, have a bunch of kids, etc. just don't want to work. And when they do catch a break and get a little money they spend it on something stupid.

Rich people worked for it. Again, MOST not ALL. Some of course inherited it, but that is not the majority. Read some bios of some ceos and others who started something successful. Many of them worked their ***es off and took great investment risks.
