Why aren't Republicans in congress and supporters asking Trump to resign so that we can all return to normal & avoid impeachment hearings?

Watching the news is depressing. All the division, bad news, he said, she said, name calling, accusations, rumors, etc..

Any other president or politician would have already resigned by now for the good of the people . This all doesn't make any sense. Country over party is how it should be. Not the other way around.

They don't have the courage. Trump effectively bullies them around and they don't have the courage to stand up to him because they fear consequences. Some conservatives in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate have had the courage to stand up to him, but they usually resign, or in John McCain's case, he died of cancer. For some reason they fear the wrath of Trump. Trump really isn't a conservative or a Republican. He never has been one until his campaign for president in 2016. He joined the Republican Party and took it over. Now you have seen a bunch of lap dogs who are scared of Trump. Graham is scared of Trump. McConnell is scared of Trump. Paul Ryan was scared of Trump. That's why they fall in line. None of the U.S. Senators have the guts to make a call to Trump and say, "This isn't your party. This is our party. This is the Republican Party, not the Trump Party. We're tired of your corruption and shady tactics. If it comes down to a vote in the impeachment hearings, we are gonna kick your butt out." But no, they won't say that. They WANT to say that, but they most certainly won't. It all has to do with courage. They feel he will destroy their careers if they don't fall in line with him. They're spineless. They have the power in numbers, so why don't they use it and take their own party back? They won't, though. Maybe he has dirt on many of them. Have you ever considered that? He is a blackmail artist, you know. He always has been very good at blackmailing others during his business career.

You should review the "elected" and consider the ramifications.

If it happens, it will take time - the more stuff that comes out and the more damage his actions could do to the GOP, the more likely his support will begin to erode. It took time for Nixon's support to erode, the same will be true for trump.

While I completely agree with you..........don't you think we long ago passed any sort of point of such civility?? Republicans lost the plot, when not one of them, stood up to speak out against all the racist Birther nonsense.....and openly vowed to make Obama a one term president before he was even sworn in. Just CHOOSING to hate him from the get go, for NO reason. Now you're asking the same people to do the RIGHT thing? Yeah, I know they SHOULD, but that ain't happening.

Look at Jim Jordan or Rudy Giuliani............they are so far PAST the point of any sort of logic or reason, they will never find their way back.

The same guys that lost their freaking minds over Bill Clinton's little fib under oath, over a BJ, to hide his embarrassment over the affair......now claim they don't see a single solitiary legal thing wrong with anything that Trump does.......despite being flagrantly in violation of several laws, in broad daylight......and BRAGGING about it.

But they don't see any of that. or claim not to. So I wouldn't expect any of them to grow a backbone any time soon. They SHOULD, but they won't.

Why would anyone ask him to resign when there is no proof he did anything to call for it? Just because the Dems control the media/the media controls the dems doesn't mean the Rs quit to satisfy their hate

Because then the Democrats will simply threaten to impeach any President who doesn't kowtow to their every demand. That's like giving in to terrorists' demands.

Any degree of chaos is better than letting the Democrats in Congress learn that they can control or overthrow the presidency anytime they want. You want to throw away the system of checks and balances. We're not going to do that.

Because they all need the Trump base to win elections. And if they go against the President or ask him to resign, they're afraid they'll lose those votes.

If you believe that then do you also think the Democrat party gives a rats a$$ about the "good of the country"? I know I certainly don't!
