It's possible but I would say not common.

    It's possible but very rare.

You are overlooking the "grand". Two generations reproducing at age 6.5?

If the 53-year-old got pregnant at12, or got somebody pregnant at 12, then the child would be born when s/he was 13, and would be 40 when the parent is 53.

You misread the question. It as 40-year old GRANDchild.

Yeah. The 53 year old may not be the oldest sibling, their older brother/sister could have been a good 20 years older than they are, which means the grandkids ages would be around 40. Figure a 16 to 20 year span between parent and kid.

A 53-year old can have a 40-year old NIECE or NEPHEW, but not a grandchild.

Yes, if the 53 year old gave birth at 13, which is documented.

That gives a 40 year old CHILD, not a GRANDCHILD.

    that would be really sad.

Only in Alabama and neighboring states.

A 53-year old can have a 40-year old CHILD. Having a child at 13 is rare but it happens now and again. To have a 40-year old GRANDchild would mean having a child at 6 and a half, and said child also giving birth at 6 and a half. (or having a child at 6, who has a child at 7, or some combination like that.) As u/Audrey said, a step grandchild is a possibility. As U/SundayCrone said, it's also possible through adoption.

Having a 7-year old boy impregnate an adult woman, whose son impregnates another adult woman at age 6, is equally unlikely.

Not a blood one, a step one, though.
