bus fare 1940?

how much would it cost for a child’s bus ticket in london of 1940 to travel 20 miles?

    Under five's went free, for a child until they were twelve it was one penny.

    The maximum adult fare in 1940 was 7d, so if the route continued for 20 miles, the child's fare would be 3½d - known as a thrupenny ha'penny half. Most routes were shorter and there was no through ticketing, so you'd have to buy a ticket for each bus.

    I remember that in Chicago in the 50s it was 10 cents. I would assume that in London the the 40s it would be a couple pence.
