Why do people from Houston say "you guys" as if they're from Chicago?

    Certainly not all Texans talk like that.  People get their accent and speech patterns from their parents the the people they lived with.  You may have been talking to people whose families were originally from northern states.

    Some people say 'fellas' or 'folks', let people say what they want to say.
