Oh, believe me, you wouldn't think formula feeding mums have it easy if you could see their lives.
It wasn't easy, the CONSTANT merry-go-round of cleaning bottles. Seriously, keeping those suckers clean dominated my life.
It wasn't easy, lugging a lot of crap around everywhere I went with baby.
It wasn't easy, getting stuck in traffic and running out of formula.
It wasn't easy, going to seven stores in one day because the one formula my baby seemed to tolerate was sold out EVERYWHERE. I ended up having to order it online and hope it would be delivered before my last can ran out.
Speaking of buying formula: that stuff is expensive!
And it certainly wasn't easy, getting up in the middle of the night and going into a cold kitchen, sleep still in my eyes, fumbling to fix a bottle ASAP while in the other room my baby was wailing and unable to understand why I didn't just feed him RIGHT NOW. I would have given almost anything to be able to just pick up baby and offer him the breast.
Trust me. Keep breastfeeding. It's way easier than having to formula feed. Sure it's convenient to be able to go out without baby and not have to worry about pumping, but most of your life is WITH baby, not away from baby.
Oh, and sweetie, you mentioned social media? EVERYBODY has it together on social media. They're not going to post pictures of themselves looking flustered, with greasy hair, a bundle of nerves while baby screams in the background, frantically washing a bottle because somehow all twenty of them are dirty and baby is hungry NOW.
Instead they post that picture of them with freshly washed hair and make-up on the right parts of their face, with an equally radiant friend, both holding a glass of chardonnay. And why do they post this? Because for them too it is a bleeding miracle to be out of sweatpants.
