A long wait suggests a non urgent test which suggests cancer is considered unlikely.
When diagnosed with cancer, I had preliminary results the next day. These results promoted all my further tests to top priority for appointments, scans, specialusts, processing and surgery.
When a needle biopsy was done on a suspected recurrence, 18 months after treatment, a pathologist did an initial test in the room within a minute that was able to confirm it was almost certainly not cancer. More rigorous testing to confirm this took a couple of weeks.
