Double Edged Sword? Do we know if our efforts to halt climate change is in line with the planets wishes. What if Earth knows what it's doing?
I'm a big fan of Gaia theory but it's possible our planet wants to be warmer in its old age.

You are basically right. Mother Earth knows how to solve these problems; we don't.
Not that I think Earth is in her old age, not by a long shot.
Remember, the Medieval Warm Period was warmer than our current climate; and the mini-ice-age that followed was very distressing; but people continued to thrive.

If you go with the Gaia hypothesis, the planet might be trying to kill us off like the parasites we are, to restore the Earth to a natural balance of plants and animals, with no humans.

The Earth is just rock and water ,Its not alive

Possibly. Getting too warm flips the climate back into a long could phase of the Ice Age. We are currently enjoying a short interglacial epoch.
But notwithstanding all that, human civilisation must seek to extend the period of time it still have by holding back the return to Ice Age conditions for as long as possible.

Nature has a way of correcting its mistakes and the last time that happened was 65 million years ago.
We may follow the path of the dinosaurs to extinction in the future.

The Earth isn’t in its old age. It still has some way to go. But, we don’t want to get there before it’s time. The fact is mankind has impacted earths environment. If we want to go on living on this planet without the huge extremes in heat, cold, wind and rain then we have to change our behaviour on a global scale.

You're assuming the planet needs or even wants us, it may have had enough of us.

The earth isn't doing it, it's tolerating the abuse...
