Why do some teachers go off on tangents?
They just start lecturing and their going good then they just branch off and pretty soon their telling some random story. Then instead of getting back on topic they just keep talking and rambling about something random for a while before finally meandering back on topic

Teachers have to sometimes give the same lecture time and time again like a broken record. So they will try to explain things in a different way for their own sanity. Also some teachers like to over explain things. Others probably just like many other people don’t know their really doing it.

Because it would be the most boring thing in the world to stand there for however many blocks they have and say the same thing over and over because some teachers teach the same class all day. Some probably think their emphasizing a point. While others probably don't even realize their doing it.

When you've given basically the same lecture for twenty years, you often look for new illustrations/examples of key points. Sometimes it doesn't work out so well and sounds more like a tangent.
