By calling the Human Resources at the Dept of Health where she worked.

Make contact. You may be told to provide a certified copy of the death certificate before they will release any information. You may even be told to provide copies of your papers from Surrogate Court that gave you the authority to act as Executor or Administrator of the estate.

You might just be given the info. You can't know until you contact the state.

If you are asked for a certified copy of the death certificate, the one with the raised seal, ask if they will make a copy of it and return the original to you. Those cost a minimum of $30 apiece.

If they have a state employees' retirement system/organization, she should be listed there. They may request a death certificate and-or a power of attorney document, before releasing any info to you.

POA, absolutely not. That terminates upon death. POA is useless.

Are you asking the dept of health for the information or did she work for the dept of health?

I'd start here if she was employed by the state:

    https://www.osc.state.ny.us/retire/publications/vo...

    or try here:

    Good Luck.

Her bank account statements would show when she stopped depositing paychecks?

Her W-2s might be in a box with her tax returns somewhere?
