How to get a set in applesauce stain out of my daughters onesie?

Ok, so the other day my daughter tried apple sauce for the first time... she made a complete mess of course as babies do haha, when I changed her out of the messy onesie it accidentally fell under the bed instead into her laundry basket and I found it two days later and washed it and put it in the dryer.. Now it has turned into like a huge black stain I’m guessing because it molded or acidity or something like that. Is there any suggestions or past experiences that you have had like this that can help me get this ugly black stain off? Or is the onesie just done for? :(

thats not applesauce any more, that is mold and those are hard to get out.

You have now effectively cooked the applesauce into the fabric.

It is just possible that a long soak in a biological washing powder/liquid will help, but I doubt it. The dryer is your worst enemy in cases like this.

My better half tells me that it's a pity you've washed it and put it in the dryer. We suspect that has "set" the stain and made it permanent. Washing it in cold water first might have helped. Anyway, I doubt if you'll get it out now, so you can only put up with it or ditch the onesie. I doubt if your daughter will mind either way.

It does sound permanent. You could try soaking it overnight in a diluted bleach solution. But as you say it may be throw away. Unless you dye it black of course!
