Why was Edward of Woodstock called the black prince?

    The name was given to him AFTER his death and was most likely due to the colour of his armour or shield. If you are referring to the Afro-centricist BS about his mother being 'black' because of a medieval description that said she was 'brown all over', meaning simply she had olive skin instead of the milk-white preferred at the time. They didn't call back people black back then, his mother was clearly a white woman if you look at her made-to-life tomb effigy. There are also millions of descendants from this same bloodline and NA refutes the nonsense.

    The Prince were black armour, when everybody had dull 'white'.

    he wore the black armour that inspired the name. It has been thought that the predominance of black on his shield of peace.
