Where I used to live 20 years ago, there was an area where illegals would gather every morning to wait for landscapers or construction guys to come by looking for workers. It became a real problem as the historic town was being over run with them.
One day, the police started pulling over trucks as they left. One instance in particular, they confiscated the truck and told the driver that the owner of the business had to come down to get it back. The owner showed up in a BMW and the confiscated that too until the owner went to court for not paying taxes.
Not sure how many people got hit on this, but the illegals started to thin down as they went to other towns for work. If every town did this, it would definitely put a damper on it.

Sorry, but that has been proven to be totally inadequate as the majority of illegal aliens do NOT work! Yes, enforcement of penalties against employers must be stepped up, minimum $10,000 fine per illegal alien employed made mandatory.
But the biggest draw for most illegal aliens is welfare-types of benefits. Welfare, food stamps/SNAP, WIC, Medicaid (& free emergency room treatment), housing subsidies, and all the rest of the "freebies" & subsidies they obtain from various sources are the #1 draw for illegals. Require proof of US citizenship of any applicant and ALL members of the household to qualify for any sort of benefits.
Also note that most illegal aliens who work "jobs" rather than occasional labor use stolen identities, SSNs, etc. So the conscientious employer who uses e-verify is deceived since such "true-name" identity theft will e-verify! Punish the illegal aliens themselves with conviction of felony identity theft, identity fraud, with mandatory hold until deportation, with permanent bar to reentry. Don't punish only the employer & let the illegal aliens go free. Punish the illegal aliens themselves with detention until deported with permanent bar to reentry as well as the employer's penalties.

I think that's patently obvious and has been for a long time, lest you need more evidence that the US government going back decades colludes with business on this.

Go after them and go after them hard,,, with fines and penalties that actually hurt the company's bottom line. This crap of letting a billion dollar company of with a $10,000 fine is bull.

That happens already in places like the UK, employers have to keep record proof of all their employees and proof they can legally work in the UK or they are fined per individual they hire who is not and landlords legally have to rent for 6 months minimum and have a copy of proof from the tenant that they are legally in the country to be able to rent, otherwise the landlord is heavily fined
