    No. They were separate cultures. As were the Toltecs. There are similarities between them but they lived in different regions of what are now Mexico and parts of Central America.

    No, the Maya and the Aztecs were two distinct groups of people who belonged to different societies.

    Generally, in English, the adjective "Mayan" is reserved for referring to the language(s) of the Maya people, it's not applied to the people themselves.

    Aztecs were basically the northern half of Mexico and into parts of Texas, New Mexico, etc.

    The Mayans were the southern half of Mexico that extended into Guatemala.

    Both were different groups and they were also racially different. Mayans had more Asiatic features, while the Aztecs had more reddish skin color and were taller.
