Help art history question about Egyptian art?
1. Egyptian art is commonly understood to be very conservative with a visual language that dictated how the male and female form was to be depicted (concerning both body proportion and positioning). Write an essay about deviations from the visual language. When and how and why were figures depicted in a manner that did not conform to the established cannon? What do these figures tell us about Egyptian art in general? Discuss several examples in your essay carefully comparing your selection with traditional Egyptian figures to prove your assertions. (Identify each of the works you discuss.)
2. Describe the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut. How does it function as a sacred space? How is it integrated with its environment? How does it compare with other mortuary monuments of the pharaohs?
