What will happen to my PC if I plug an Ethernet cable into it directly from my router?

    That is exactly how one normally connects a PC to the internet - via a router with an ethernet cable or WiFi.

    A router is a distributor for sharing the internet with several devices all at the same time. Removing it means only one item will work.

    Nothing bad will happen. You will just have an Ethernet connection from your PC to your router.

    This is how you make a hard wired connection from a PC to the LAN. It will enable the router to assign a LAN IP address to the PC and allow traffic to flow from and to the pc
