If the government bought every house in Detroit and gave it to all homeless people?

would it eliminate homelessness?

No one has suggested that having a safe and stable place to live is a "magic bullet" that will instantly alleviate every difficulty a homeless person faces. Only that it's a good starting place.

No. Even Detroit doesn`t have that many houses. "Excuse me sir, but can you spare some change?" How come the many fake homeless people don`t ask women for spare change? The panhandlers aren`t doing the legit homeless people any favors!

Take a look at the history of Hawaii. The native polynesians were doing great before we arranged to have their queen assassinated. After a bunch of propaganda they became a state and the first thing we did? We drove the land prices up so high that the NATIVES who had to vote to become a state, were all driven out of their homes because they could not afford to live in their HOMELAND. Nevermind that we also flooded them with non-natives and destroyed their voice in their own state... it's all about the Benjamins.

Homelessness is caused by the extremely greedy people who turn beautiful low-value land into high value cities. Most people who are homeless don't choose to be homeless, they were forced into poverty and then laws passed specifically to keep them impoverished.

Such as in Hawaii, the natives had no problem with bunking together in the same house, but rich people want that land so they passed "health" laws designed to limit the number of people that can reside in the same house.

It is a WAR on poor people.

When another nation conquers land, that kind of thing happens. When the europeans conquered the americas, the natives were in the same situation. Nations have been conquering other nations since the beginning of civilization. Its not a war on the poor, its a war on the natives of that land.

@ Loser Thank you for confirming English is not your native language.

The "street people" are there because they are mentally ill, addicted to alcohol, addicted to drugs, and often all three. They are incapable of holding a job or living normally. It is not about the economy.

Once upon a time the street people would be incarcerated in asylums/mental hospitals since they are a danger to themselves. However, the USA dismantled the mental hospital system in the 1990s.

Most homeless people are homeless because drugs not because the economy. People who actually try aren't homeless for long. Ive been homeless myself several times but never for longer than a few months at a time

They would ruin those houses and go back to living on the street. Most homeless people choose to be homeless. They get their welfare check and spend it on drugs and alcohol. They truly are the dregs of society in multiple ways. Thumb me down for the truth liberals.
