Which part of a stepladder is a hinged back?

I am not a native user of English, and I am not sure which part of a stepladder is called a hinged back.

Could anyone kindly explain it in English, or help me find on the Web a drawing that indicates its position?

I have a link to some images of step ladders. One side of the unfolded ladder has steps, or rungs, that you climb on. The opposite side is the hinged back. The hinged back goes from the floor to the top of the ladder, and does not have steps/ rungs.
