End of June...the days start to get shorter...until the end of December...when they start to get longer again. At least in the Northern Hemisphere. The opposite is true for the southern hemisphere.

It has already started, it is getting dark sooner and sooner for weeks now.

It already is getting dark almost an hour earlier. Where I am we re losing 4 to 5 minutes per day. It's fastest around the equinoxes. When the USA falls back an hour to standard time on November 3 it will get dark an hour later but it will be dark later in the morning.

In the U.K. you should have already noticed this.

It's already getting dark earlier than it was back in June. And it'll get dark the earliest towards the end of December. Then it'll go back to getting dark later and later until June again.

It became quite notiecable by Mid-August. You will really notice it when the clocks go back.

Day length works on a Sinusoidal Curve - that's faster away from the nodes.

If you are in the northern hemisphere it started on June 21st. On September 21st, day and night length will be the same.
