Will the NHL take a position on Quebec's Bill 21?

Why would it? In what way would authority figures - police, politicians, teachers - be prevented from wearing religious symbols on the job in Montreal affect the league? Do any of the Canadiens' coaching staff openly wear Christian crosses, turbans, yarmulkes or other such items while coaching? The law would not apply anywhere outside of the province.

  • Unlikely. This isn't exactly the most progressive of sports on a good day, and Bettman isn't going to get involved. There's little to gain (unfortunately) on it. Another reason why I refuse to work in the province despite several job offers. Not that Doug Ford is some beacon of anything (except obesity, stupidity, and criminal behaviour), mind.

I fail to see how it's relevant to them.

@commenter: hockey arenas in Texas have bathrooms.

They thought the Texas bathroom bill was relevant to them.
