Rewrite the equation below so that it does not have fractions.

2 - 3/4 x = 5/12

24 - 9 x = 5

9x = 19

12*(2-3/4x=5/12 )

As others have already said, multiplying everything on both sides by 12 will do the trick and leave you with:

24 - 9x = 5

And there was one person who further simplified this down to: 9x = 19

One more thing you could do as an alternative is factor the left side because they share the number 3 in common. That would leave you with an answer of:

3 ( 8 - 3x ) = 5

FYI, I put the spaces in all of these just to make it more readable. So there are multiple answers to your question. Some teachers have a preference which way they'd like it. Others will leave it up to individual students to use whichever they'd like. And some will want all forms as a test to see if you even realize there is more than one way to solving it.

2(4x) - 3 = 5(4x) / 12

2(12)(4x) - 3(12) = 5(4x)

96x - 36 = 20x

76x = 36

38x = 18

19x = 9
