Why is keeping stocked trout frowned upon by fly anglers?

In some of these watersheds, they die during the summer anyway.

I like to fish, but there's only so much I can eat. So I release the rest.

It depends on what watershed and where. Basically, Stocked Fish cost money to replace. That's why fishing in (some) privately stocked ponds/streams require you to pay (per LB) any fish you decide to keep. Also, in many cases, the Trout you would want to keep would be a perfect breeding specimen that should be kept alive to pass on it's genetic's. It has more to do with Conservation than anything else......like Bobber and Bubba said- taking an occasional Trout is fine (as long as you follow your States Bag Limits and laws). TU's Bobber and Bubba!

Some anglers believe that catch & release helps to sustain the fish population. Sometimes it does, but not always.

Because catching them several times over a period of time is awesome. Also they get wise the longer they remaine wild. It is ok to take a few.

I know some people who think taking fish at all should be illegal. Sometimes it's easier to catch wild trout than stocked trout. Not all of them have even seen a lure. I caught a trout today that had a Carolina rig down its throat.
