Why can Europeans grown blackcurrants, redcurrants, and gooseberries but Americans don’t?

Bull...my grandmother had both currents and gooseberries in her Ohio back yard. As a kid I used to munch on them right off the bush.
Truth be known, they are acquired tastes and most Americans don't have a taste for them. And you must admit the currents are a bit sour.
