How to make the numbers 1-100 Using only 2,2,4,6?

How to make the 1-100 Using only the numbers 2, 2, 4, 6. Rules: no extra numbers, you must use all the numbers and do not combine numbers without a mathematical operation. Ex: 2+2+4+6=14

This is for my algebra class is there a formula for this?

It's more of a challenge of your understanding of mathematical operations and their precedence.

One thing that is challenging about the numbers you have been given is you have no odd numbers. But you can try to use 2/2 or 6/2 to introduce those into the mix.

    Let's start with 1.

We know that we can get a 1 with 2/2. And what's left is 4 and 6. Notice that 6 - 4 = 2 so here's one way you could put those together:

    6 - 4 - 2/2 = 1

2 is not hard. Here's one simple way:

    6 - 4 - 2 + 2 = 2

And we can use what we learned in creating 1 to make 3:

    6 - 4 + 2/2 = 3

The whole point is for you to try figuring out as many as you can on your own. Some things to try are multiplying a few numbers 4 * 6 which gets you 24. But then you can try using 2/2 to get 23 or 25. And you can just add 0 (2-2) to get 24.

    Don't forget about exponents too. For example 6^2 = 36, then see what you can do with 4 and 2, such as 6^2 - 4/2 = 34 or 6^2 + 4/2 = 38.

If you've learned factorials, that might be helpful to make bigger numbers with just one number.

    4! = 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 24

    6! = 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1 = 720

    For example:

    6! / (4*2) + 2 = 92

Another trick you shouldn't forget is the decimal point, especially when you divide. For example dividing by .2 is the same as multiplying by 5.

    (6 + 4 + 2) / .2 = 60

Have fun and let us know if there are any numbers (1-100) you find really challenging.
