For ME, that only applies to electric cars. As for gasoline powered cars or trucks, the power first, and the sound second are what matters.

Range is how far a car can go on one tank of fuel (for gas or diesel vehicles) or one full charge in an electric car.

Some cars have both electric and gas motors which can drive in all-electric mode for a certain distance, then you can start the gas motor and keep going if the electric batteries are dead. This allows you to use all electric for short trips around town but when you need to go on longer trips you can drive as far as you want as long as you stop and fill the gas tank as needed. These cars often state the "electric range" which is how far you can drive on electric power before you have to start the gas engine.

RANGE in automotive terms is the distance a vehicle can travel on one full tank of fuel, OR for an electric car, the distance it can go before the battery needs to recharge.
