Somewhat true. If someone doesn't put serious thought into their actions, at times, they are more likely to get taken advantage of. That doesn't mean people will never take advantage of a serious person, just that the chances are less.
Suppose I didn't think too much about where to wander in a strange city. I could be more likey to get assaulted or robbed. I might not. And even if I took measures to stay safe, I could still get robbed. It's just that planning reduces the chances of trouble.
