Why do police nowadays blame crime rates on the fact that they can’t do their job properly?

Was there no crime before this happened? Were they not committing crimes themselves and they’re made they can’t get away with it?

Ii have never heard a cop say that. If you have, and you want to discuss that cop's thought processes, talk to that cop. No one can explain what he/she was thinking.

I must have been unclear. The fact that the president claims that cops have told him that does not mean that it is true that even one cop said that to the president. And it certainly does not mean that cops in general feel that way.

No, the majority of the Police aren't made. You watch too many mafia movies.

Why does anyone use the word "nowadays"?

Do they? Because that's not their job. That's government's job. Police are one tool the government uses to do that job. The job of police is simply to carry out the policies and procedures of government as laid out to them by the government, but the outcome of that, whether crime rates go up or down, that's not on the police but on those who direct the police.
