How is it possible to support the myth that gays aren't more prone to pedophilia when the research says otherwise?

"Previous investigations have indicated that the ratio of sex offenders against female children vs. offenders against male children is approximately 2:1, while the ratio of gynephiles to androphiles among the general population is approximately 20:1."

- Excerpt from "The proportions of heterosexual and homosexual pedophiles among sex offenders against children: an exploratory study." J. Sex Marital Ther. 1992 Spring, 18(1):34-43 Freund, K and Watson RJ.

The reason of course is that pedophiles are relatively indifferent to the sex of their victims, which stands to reason because there is not much difference between little boys and little girls before puberty. Since it is much easier for male offenders to get access to little boys than to little girls they are much more likely than average to offend against little boys.

Both gay and straight men are attracted to the secondary sexual characteristics of the sex the are oriented to. Little children have none of those characteristics, but unlike straight or gay men a pedophile is attracted to children without sexual characteristics.

And here's a study that refutes that: Adult sexual orientation and attraction to underage persons.

Groth AN, et al. Arch Sex Behav. 1978.

Besides of the fact that Groth was clearly the minority view given the sum of the totality of the research on the subject matter.

Translation: "Previous investigations have indicated that the ratio of sex offenses against girls is twice that of those against boys, while 20 times more people are attracted to girls as opposed to boys."

Even if I believed that (I don't), the statement has NOTHING to do with pedophilia. I am sure that there is more context provided in that research, but you haven't provided any.

Except that part where "20 times more people are attracted to girls as opposed to boys." is total BS.

The sample used in that study was of paedophiles who have sought professional help before offending. Bearing in mind that we don't know how many paedophiles don't offend, and that the majority of child sexual abuse is carried out by non-paedophiles, this is quite irrelevant and is probably more due to homosexual men being more willing to seek help due to non-conformity to gender stereotypes - men not seeking help for medical problems due to aversion to seeming weak or vulnerable. In fact, it probably means there are more heterosexual men out there who are both paedophiles and not interested in addressing the problem.

Absolutely! People are reluctant to come forward and researchers are reluctant to undertake research. Big problem.

Have worked with children many years and the information you provide is incorrect.

The reports I have read have come from child protection authorities in the US, the UK and Australia.

Child protection as in the actual people who have to deal with people in their actual lives rather than dealing with data.

All three have found that the most common offender is the father, then the mother followed by the older brother.

After this its uncles ad then its introduced people like religious and teachers, coaches. Strangers which is the most likely group a gay person would come from is not a common offender.

Also, 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 8 boys are subjected to child abuse.

Now that number of boys may seem high, but keep in mind that bisexuals are not gay people and they have the advantage of easy access to children as in the position of parent.

Clearly the data your looking at is flawed as it does not mention bisexual people. You cant attribute every same sex encounter of child abuse to homosexuals.

Functionally speaking bisexuality IS homosexuality- it's same-sex oriented behavior, which was what the study was about.

That is bogus, there is no connection. ~95% of child molesters are straight white men. (FBI Stats)

You are ******* moron. Science trumps FBI statistics.
