What happens if 2 mlb teams in two different leagues (AL & NL) finish with the same record at the end of the season?

  • If you're going to play in The Postseason, you must have one of the best records in either The American League. How many games you have won or lost compared to a team in the other league is irrelevant.

Nothing. Their records are purely coincidental.

Nothing, as since they are in different leagues, their records mean nothing in relation to each other, they only mean something in relation to playoff seeding within their own leagues.

It would only affect the draft, whereby there are tiebreakers to determine order.

It won't matter, it is how the teams do in the playoffs that matter.

It only matters if they're in the same league. Nothing happens if they're in opposite leagues.

They finish with the same record. It has no effect on anything else outside of the league each team plays in.

The team with the better regular season record gets home field advantage for the World series, if they have the same record then they use tie breakers.

head-to-head record in the regular season. If they did not play in the regular season, the tiebreaker would go to the team with the better overall record in their respective divisions. If that, too, is a tie, then the team with the better record within their league gets home field advantage.

Various tiebreakers (best head-to-head record, etc.) are used to determine home-field advantage for the WS. ⚾

How would they decide who gets home field advantage for the World Series?
