Why don t people call insurance companies immediately upon receiving exorbitant billing from hospitals?

Why do they pay bills in the thousands when the average MD is about 80-150 and surgery under a thousand? Granted ambulences are expensive the equipment very pricey. But I just read a complaint about an emergency hospitalization for possible suicide and there were obvious extra charges made on the bill such as a 1400 dollar smoking cessation and 1800 dollar bed.

Doctors don t charge that much not even surgeons and hospitals and insurance are obviously being used as scam billing organisations.

The best option is not let insurance companies pay scam bills in fact you the patient should immediately call your insurve company ordering them to send you each bill so you can authorise the amount and how much and what they will pay.

You want lower insurance costs looks like you have to work for them.

And what do you consider "exorbitant billing" ??

What exactly is your life worth and who do YOU expect to pay for it?

The hospital bill should reflect the contracted price with the insurance company.
