What kind of lifestyle could you live in NYC with a salary of $450,000 a year (after taxes)?

This is hypothetical BTW.

I agree with Anonymous - but his math is not accurate. From an early age, invest. Start small but in long term investments. You can still treat yourself to smaller things, vacations. As you work your way up thru a decent career, up your percentage of investment. Things happen - marriage, kids, mortgages - but never stop investing. Frankly, work a Union job with great insurance and retirement. Work a side gig. Live a decent and clean life. Does not mean you are monk or no fun! Listen to financial guys like Dave Ramsey. You take good care of your money - it takes good care of you.

Depends on brain power. Brain dead morons spend every cent on flashy cars and expensive housing which is a nice lifestyle but not a true one. Eventually you’ll end up in debt. Smart people would save approx 150,000+ annually or yearly, so by the time they retire they could live an extremely extravagant lifestyle in the big Apple. From 25 - 65 they’d save 6,000,000 without interest. With interest and/or 401K they’d have a nice 10,000,000 for retirement and a nice pension.
