Is Catholicism nothing more than a public relations strategy that got out of control?

Catholicism was invented by the Roman elite while Rome was in decline to persuade peasants to pay taxes to Kings who then paid money to the Pope and Roman elite. This was necessary because centuries of mismanagement and corruption made peasants disloyal to old Rome, which fell apart. Unfortunately, the myths stuck and people built societies around it while Rome parasitically lived off of everyone's money for almost 2000 years.

Catholicism is the One True Faith and a person can know this with certainty by reciting the rosary each day with care.

In truth, it was the Catholic Church that stepped up and (by the grace of God) rebuilt modern western civilization, in the image of heaven, after the fall of Rome. No other organization on the planet could have done it.

You're only 700 years off, slick. The Catholic Church didn't exist till the Great Schism of 1054.

Google it. The Christian Church established at Pentecost split in two, requiring new names. The Eastern Christian Church became the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church and the bishop of Rome became the head of the newly-named Catholic Church.

Wow. You should study some history. You are not even close to correct.

The Catholic Church began in 1054AD, long after the Roman Empire had crumble in the West. The East, which still called itself Roman actually began Orthodoxy at the same time. There was an existing Christian church long before this, but, the Romans tried to stamp it out until late in the third century. By the time an emperor became Christian (Constantine), where it became politically correct to become Christian, the religion had long been established.

No, of course it isn't. Read some actual historical sources. Also, don't forget that the ancient church was more extensive than the Roman empire - eg there were early churches in India and Ethiopia which were never under Roman rule yet still followed all the key elements of the Catholic faith.

I'm all for conspiracy theories but I really do not believe anyone is smart or powerful enough to invent and implement their on religion top down like that on a large scale for manipulation. Only to take advantage of it after it begins.
