The whole thing was a massive expensive flop.

but we did learn enough to hopefully have enough sense not to invest vastly more on silly space colony attempts.

You are asking about Biosphere 2 outside of Tucson. It was not a 'flop', you learn more from a failure than from success.

The facility had eight people living inside for an intended two years, 1991 to 1993 They discovered the facility was not self-sustaining in either food or oxygen and the experiment was terminated early. The buildings are used now for various experiments, when I last took a tour there one building was growing trees with elevated CO2 levels to see how they would respond. They seemed larger than the control group of trees but there were no published results available about increases in oxygen production.

The University of Arizona owns and runs it now and scheduled tours are available.

Biosphere 1 is the Earth, in case you are wondering where the name came from.

No such even existed in earth desert, what you saw only coming from movie writer's imagination and fairy tale story or game.
