Hiccups are harmless. Why would you want to contact your doctor about hiccups, if you haven't had hiccups for years?

    NO!

Hiccups a form of myoclonus are repeated spasms of the diaphragm ( the muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen), followed by quick noisy closing of the glottis (the opening between the vocal cords that checks the flow of air to the lungs).

Most bouts of hiccups are harmless, they occur suddenly, usually with out an obvious cause and usually stop spontaneously after several seconds or minutes.

No need to see your health care provider and spend money on an office call to be told they will go away Sit back relax and by the time you read all your answers to this Q they should be gone.

There is nothing wrong with not having hiccups for a long time.

Not having hiccups is good. They are caused by diseases in rare cases.
