    Mainly Rhyme poetry

It would more likely come from Talking Blues than Square Dancing, but not.

Its roots are more in spoken word poetry than in any musical pre-genre.

Agreed. Can you just picture the first rapper hearing a square dance and thinking, "Cool!. I can work with this"? I'm having a hard time thinking "Kiss Her In The Moonlight" and "Marching To Georgia" could provide inspiration to any rapper.

I see what you mean, so white country music fans can really take the credit for rhyming to music and starting rap. Snoop Dogg and others will be pleased to hear that.

Actually it would be really funny to hear a mashup between the square dance instructions on a country song and the rap on a rap song. I hope somebody does that.
