Native English speakers, could you please help me with these issues?

1. Is this sentence correct:

"He said he doesn't care that being a theatre actor is something often DIMINISHED. He enjoys it, and he would like to be a theater actor for a living."

2. By the way, which is more commonly used: a 'theater actor' or a 'stage actor'?

As for 1 I'd say belittled instead of diminished which is way too formal.

As for 2, here in Canada we use stage actor rather than theater actor

and as for the two, you either use "theatre" or "theater", two forms of English

We also say stage actor here in the United States.
