(Uk) Can you alter college courses during the first year?

I came back from enrolment of my chosen college and re-read the letter about my chosen courses; art and design was on there but not maths since I have to re-take it after failing it for gcse. I don't want to go back there because the travel is long. What do I tell them on induction/first day of college and will it be possible to fit maths in my timetable once im going there? I feel stupid for not double checking when I had the chance.

Can you phone them today? Important to pass Maths GCSE. It is a core subject that employers look for.
