Why is my dentist giving me only bottom retainers?

So I’ve had top and bottom retainers on for over a year and my dentist said it was time to get them off. He told me he will be giving me bottom retainers but I noticed most people get top and bottom retainers because won’t my top teeth just shift back? I feel like he doesn’t know what he’s doing helpppp

You say you've had top and bottom retainers. I assume you mean braces, and are now getting the braces off.

I've never known an orthodontist to not give top and bottom retainers to a patient who had top and bottom braces. And yes, your top teeth may shift back.

So, you need to ask your dentist/orthodontist why you're only getting a bottom retainer. S/he's the only one who can tell you why they made that decision.
