What time of year do spiders start to go away in Southern California?
Specifically the LA area?

Unless it freezes, which happens in some parts of SoCal they don’t go anywhere.

By go away I assume you mean go into hibernation or into hiding. I rarely see spiders between October and May in Southern California. I live in Orange County, so the same would apply to LA

Most spiders are pretty consistent year round. There are some larger ones which make some pretty big webs at night which are more seasonal. They 'do away' when the weather gets cooler.

Our cool or cold season which spiders and other insects do not like is normally between November and March but sometimes we do get droughts (unusually dry and warm weather). You can also look this up on the Internet and find out: https://insectcop.net/where-do-spiders-go-in-the-winter/
