How do you respond to a failed backtound check for apartment- in order for approval?
- ErikLv 74 months ago
You don't "respond", they rejected you. It's over. However, it doesn't hurt to ask why. Maybe they won't tell you, maybe they will, and it's something you can look into.

you probably don't

With honesty. Still may not get approved, but lying will lead to problems in the long run.
You need to find out why you failed though...so you can disclose to future potential landlords. An explanation up front is always better than trying to defend yourself once caught.

Ask why you failed the background check. If something was reported in error, get that taken care of, then ask if you can apply again.
If it was due to credit or criminal history, then there isn't anything you can do at this point to be approved for that particular complex.Source(s): FL landlord

Ask them why you failed. It could be you have a common name or something has been reported in error.

There’s nothing to respond to. You failed the check, you need to look elsewhere.
