Believe me signs that say you have 24 hour video protection will make anyone try next door instead.

Short of living behind iron bars, if someone wants to get into your house they're going to get in. The trick is to make YOUR house harder to get into than the house next door.

The truly valuable things are either too big to carry off, or kept elsewhere (for example, money is in banks, not in my dresser drawer.) Around the actual house, there's very little that would be particularly valuable. Our TV is 19". Our two computers are older models that originally ran Vista, and now run Linux. My cell phone is a non-smart Tracfone.
