Just need justification for Ochem?

Using the reaction below, calculate the number ofmilliliters of bromine required to react completely with 5g of1,2-dimethoxbenzene.

1,2-dimethoxybenzene + Br2 --> + HBr

MW= 138.18g/mol MW=159.8g/mol

d=3.10g/mL

Update:

Br2 MW= 159.8 and density= 3.10 g/mol

    did you forget your stoichimetry steps?

    .. (1) write a balanced equation

    .. (2) convert everything to moles

    .. (3) determine limiting reagent

    .. (4) convert moles limiting reagent to moles of whatever of whatever you seek

    .. (5) convert moles back to mass

    .. (6) calc % yield if applicable.. = actual / theoretical * 100%

    what's the reaction?.. we know that

    ... ϕ - OCH3 + HBr ----> Br3-ϕ-OCH3.

    5 g reactant / 138.13 g/mol X (1 mol Br2 / 1 mol reactant) X 159.8 g/mol X (1 mL/3.10 g) = 1.87 mL Br2
