• with 2 variables, and no other related formula/equation/expression there is no "solution." r + 2b - 16 = 0 is the best re-arrangement of the EXPRESSION ... RaBBitS

• First, decide what term you want to solve for. If you want to solve for r, subtract 2b from both sides of the equation. Or, if you want to solve for b, subtract r from each side of the equation and then divide both sides of the equation by 2.

• Technically speaking, that is NOT a solution; just a re-arrangement of terms.

• You have to tell us what the question is.

Do you want to solve for b or for r?

• Solve for r would simple be 16 - 2b

Solve for b would be

16 - r = 2b

b = (16 - r)/2

• Member Kendra asked you NOT to provide the solution to the equation but only an explanation of how to arrive at a solution.
