Native English speakers, could you please help me with tthese issues?

1. Is correct to say:

"He was Asian-looking."

Note: I wouldn't llike to say he's Asian, because the person in question spoke American English, so he for sure was an American of Asian descent.

2. And which sounds best:

The former expression, or "he had Asian features".

Is there any particular reason to say anything at all about his appearance? Are you identifying him in a line up? If so, you could say, "He looked to be of Asian descent."
