What would you think of an electoral college where every state has the same number of electoral votes?

The founding fathers saw a problem with the popular vote system because it meant that the rural communities would have not have much of a voice in electing the presidents and big cities would dominate. The reason this would be a problem is because there tends to be the group think mentality. This would mean that the rural communities could be practically ignored. The electoral college gave the rural communities some kind of say in electing presidents. I propose that the electoral college be charged to where each state has an equal number of electoral college votes. What do you think of my idea?
