MOST states don't issue a separate license for motorcycle. If you already have a drivers license, you can go for an "Endorsement" that adds motorcycle to the list of vehicles you are allowed to drive.

If you already have a driver's license, the motorcycle license is an endorsement on your driver's license.

New York is one the several States that issue a motorcycle-only driver license.
Since you already have your class D license, you get a permit take test take class blah blah and they will issue a Class DM license.

A few years ago, in Missouri, I had a driver license, past the test for motorcycle, and all they did was put a note on my driver licence for motorcycle approved, or something like that. All one license. Times and states change, though, so ask the motor vehicle bureau about it.

No such thing. Motorcycle is just added to a regular driver's license.
