Can somebody be close skin cancer when they are in their 20s?
To clarify, I met a woman who was her 40s that had it and had to wear a hat when she went outside. She said she got it from teaching P.E out in the sun for 20 years. And that’s what I’m talking about is the cancer you get from being in the sun to much. So can somebody who is like 25 be close to skin cancer from being in the sun and getting sun burned too much? Or does that mostly happen when you get older?

A person can develop skin cancer from excessive exposure to the hot sun or from tanning beds at ANY age - whether you're young or whether you're old.

I've seen stories of kids in their late teens who got skin cancer from spending time in tanning beds. Usually adults are diagnosed in their 40s or later from sun exposure when they were young. But this woman had her first skin cancer at 24 and has now had 86 skin cancer surgeries: https://www.today.com/health/skin-cancer-woman-was...

Yes. You can get cancer at any age. But that’s rare.

Like most types of cancer, skin cancer is more often seen in older people. But yes, people in their 20's can get it -- particularly melanoma (the most dangerous kind).

Skin cancers often take years to develop.
Many that occur as we age are due to damage done when much younger.
the most dangerous type (melanoma) can develop quickly and has killed people in their teens.

The longer you are exposed to the sun the greater the chance of developing skin cancer. There is also an element of luick and genetics involved. Darker skins are less likely to develop it, if you get burned you are more likely to develop it.
It can occur at that age but generally your better avoiding sum damage to prevent futurte problems.

There are several types of skin cancer, but the common basal cell, can occur when you are young.

That is why you should be wearing sun screen and staying in shade in the first place otherwise you'd be a dumbass like that PE teacher.
