Is there a religious link? I shouldn’t think so. Since sexual abuse is an ugly and disgusting fact of life in these wicked times and occurs across the board (churches, synagogues, families, sports, Hollywood, offices, playgrounds, girl scouts, boy scouts, Olympics), it is safe to say that any link found would be the abuser’s mindset and abhorrent desire – not whether and to what extent he is part of an organized religion. It should be noted that experts have found that the vast majority of sexual abuse cases are traced to a family member. That family member’s religious beliefs or atheist beliefs has little to no bearing on his perverted desires.
Should the Jehovah's Witnesses be worried? Not at all. The lawsuit has just been filed. Litigation has just begun. Why would there be a need for worry? The Zalkin Law Firm, like all law firms, practice law to make a living. Plaintiff’s lawyers must solicit cases in order to bring in their income. You see it on the television very often these days. The Zalkin Law Firm is no different. Some Firms specialize in high profile cases, particularly where there is a potential for a large pay-out. Since most lawyers get 30% in fees, we can see their desire to file high profile lawsuits.
It is much too early to wonder if Jehovah's Witnesses should ‘be worried.’
